License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Fortunately very few programmes can't be made to work on 64bit Win7 because it has an WinXP mode that covers most of the bases. I don't know about Macs.

So after being under a pile of work I find out about this... 20+days later, but still... and through shoegnome...
Please excuse my small rant, but after watching the v16 videos, I have to say it:
WOW... a whole new version of AC to get shells 1.5 (not even 2.0)!
Really? Come on GS.

There... whew...
While I like the 'new tool', and most of us knew v15&16 were modelling versions, all I can say is that what I see is the tool that should have made it into v15 (instead of shells, which I assume were kept for compatibility issues for the few that actually use it).

What I see is a massing tool. Yeah... you'll be able to model lines, surfaces and solids, but again I don't see how to use it with doors, windows, curtain walls, etc... which are the things that go into buildings.

I just hope (again) the next version tackles some of the parametrics needed to move the AC modelling capabilities to the next level of intelligent BIM.

For this version I would have added some kind of dimension constraint tool -separate from dimension tool-, because you can add every kind of parametric constraint just by adding the correct dimension type... but I've always trusted GS for the background research they do for the tools they add.

Anyway... looking for the next version... as there are always hidden undocumented improvements.

Best regards.

First apperences says that this is a very interesting update to AC, if it all works as promised and we hope then I think GS have made some brilliant decisions.
Infact the 3 main developements: BIM componants, morph tool and Ecodesigner intergration - are all developemenst that I have been praying GS would make. Morph tool working in co-ordination with BIM componants could be one of the most important steps GS has taken in ensuring AC maintains market share.

If its as good as it looks, congratulations to GS for this update.

Next, AC needs something like AutoCADWS....

I saw in the app store this
itunes.apple.com/ye/app/orthograph-architect/id464252559?mt=8
It can import and export for Archicad?
Anybody has tried it?

If...I want to see it used on something that would be useful in a set of working drawings. Could someone please post a link to a video like that?
I am worried about the poly count of free-form model parts or things with smooth rounded surfaces. I don't want to bog down the entire model because I am using a custom made light fixture or something.

Would the poly count go down when a Morph is converted to a .gsm part?
Will the new part loose some of it's definition and detail?

It sure looks like fun, but what could I make with it that will be useful in a set of working drawings, and will it be better than what I can already do with the tools we have? Cover plates for light switch and outlets. Signs. Perhaps I can finally make a good vinyl window library part with nailing fins. ??
It may lead to more superfluous detailing just because I can.

There are already so many model parts available that I don't make anything new very often.

If I did need a very detailed model of something the ArchiCAD Morph tool does not look like it would be in the same league with Solid Edge, Pro-E, SolidWorks, Inventor, 3D MAX, etc...this being the case, I think it will be for me as useful as the ArchiCAD rendering engines. If they are not on par with ArtLantis, Maxwell, Octanerender, Cinema 4D, etc...they are not useful to me.
As long as I can model what I need for the typical building components I use, the Morph tool will just be a toy. A toy that would be in sufficient if I needed to model something to very fine detail so it's usefulness may not apply to me very often. ?? I will wait and see. I am probably just lacking in imagination for how it could be used productively.

Odd behavior on the above link for me.
Only about 1 meg yet the pdf won't download completely.
I've tried several times.
Stops about half way through, yet I have fast dsl connection, other things
are downloading correctly.

Do you remember Tooth object presented at Pula in 2010?(www.wix.com/informis/informis).

Morph is Graphisoft's team response! Excellent!

Morph is what we expected. It is the best instrument that ArchiCAD needed. It's the way to simplify the use of ArchiCAD' menu and curve learning for students.

Congratulations to Graphisoft's team for the work. It is exceptional! Congratulations to Miklós Szövényi-Lux for his sensibility and understanding of user needs!

I see some opportunities like if I have modelling a truss today with slabtool and then save it as an GDL object and rotate it 90deg around x (make it standing) and want to do some changes or have 3 almost similiar trusses, it's not fun at all. In cases like this I guess morphtool is really great!
