Automatic dimensioning to core of wall

Any way to set up automatic dimensioning to dimension to only the cores of walls? They always seem to go to the face of finishes, no way to access the dimension dialogue box ahead of time within the command, and the core check box is grayed out if selected after the auto. dimension is place.

Thanks.

You should be able to set to dimension to core only before you place dimension. In the case for using Interior Dimensioning or Exterior Dimensioning tools, you need to have a least one object selected to get into the dialogue to edit it to core before you start dimensioning.

Don't forget that all your composites will need the appropriate skin to be set to Core.

The dialogue box with the core selection only is available when using interior dimensions. I noticed you are using V12, maybe it's missing in V14?

Also, I have discovered that it appears that sometimes the automatic dimensioning uses whatever is set on the default dimension dialogue box. I changed the default and found that sometimes the ext. dimensions won't accept the default. How does one change the auto dimension style, or what triggers the auto. dims to accept the default.

Walls have core and finishes defined.

Just wondering.
