Beam connect

Hi,

I want to connect two beams of different heights, both were made with custom profile.

On the top of the picture i show how i want to connect them, on the bottom of the picture is how they look in profile.

What is the best approach in connecting them?

Thanks!

I tried to model it by a segmented beam but couldn't as complex profile is not supported in tapered mode.

So, it can be modeled as 3 different beams, each one has its own profile and with the help of Offset Modifiers in the middle one as follow, hope that helps.

So sorry, forgot to tell you to change the beam size from uniform to tapered, you'll find start & end offsets.

Have you tried creating a single segmented beam with 3 segments.

The 2 segments at each end can be your different size complex profiles and the one in the middle can be a transition between the two sizes.

This may help ... https://help.graphisoft.com/AC/29/INT/index.htm?rhcsh=1&rhnewwnd=0&rhmapid=#t=_AC29_Help%2F040_Eleme...

Thanks for the video, but it didn't work.

If i try to do it like in the video, i can't change the joints.

If i do as you said, add a third segment and change the heights, it vanishes.

So i am unsure what am i doing wrong, but they are both custom profiles.

I tried to follow your steps, but i missed something, because this is what i get:

basically i can only stretch the whole thing.

if you know what could have gone wrong, i would appreciate it
