Beam trimmed with roof problem

In the picture below, the frieze board coming down the gable has been trimmed at the bottom by a roof object. My question is: Why is the part that has been trimmed away still showing as cutting into the corner board? How can I make it go away?

At a glance, I'd try placing it on a layer with a different intersection priority number than the column first.

If that doesn't work, then maybe try alternatives, like SEO.
