CAPTURE GEOMETRY OF SIDE OF ROOF

Hi,

Is there a way to create a plane parallel or coincident to side of the roof.

I'm trying to sketch the outside edge of the side of roof - on that plane (or perpendicular to it),

so I can save it as a .DWG

I'm trying to create a physical model of the roof.  (Please see attached).

Yes you can perform this task by using this toolbar ( 3D Navigation Toolbar ) :

I've put the roof geometry into Solidworks.

I was able to create an accurate boundary of the side of the roof, and save as a .DWG  (see attached).

I would still be interested to know if I could do the same in Archicad...

Thanks for that.

I activated the Perpendicular to Surface, and was able to create an incline plane.

But was not able to capture the outline of roof. So I did some reading

and used the MORPH tool and created a 2D surface of roof outline,

From there I placed the (Morph object) of Roof plan (laid horizontally) and could create DWG from that. See attached.

Great you could get your task done, also you can drag a copy of this single plane roof and convert it to a morph and by sub-element white arrow you can select the face with edges you need to export and delete the rest.

You can get the outline to a .dwg through a 3D document of the perpendicular 3D view.

If it is a single plane roof (or OK to split it) then you can isolate the plane in the 3D view.

If it need to be kept as a multiplane plane roof then you can go across a worksheet in order to convert it to fills and then export to .dwg
