Can't see beam/header in wall section

I placed a beam over an opening for a header. I can't find a way to see it in the wall section. I don't remember having this problem before.
I can not select it either. Perhaps this is the reason why my template headers are walls. ? I don't remember this. Is it a setting I have missed?

Two things to check:
1. The Cut Fill of the beam and wall is not the same
2. The Beam Priority is greater than the Wall Priority.

That's it. Thanks. Beam priority was set lower than the wall.

But this may not be the entire problem.

I have two plans open right now.

In one plan the beam priority is 1 and wall priority is 10. I can make the beam/header visible or not visible using display order on the wall or on the beam. And I can also select the beam even when I can't see it.
Changing wall priority in this plan has no effect on the section view. I can bring to front or send to back walls or the beam.

I have another plan open with the beam priority set to 7 wall priority is 8. I can not see the beam or select the beam and display order has no effect even if I change the beam priority to 9 and wall priority to 6. Display order has no effect in this plan. I can control the display of beam/header in the wall only with the priority setting.

Why is that ? What setting makes this possible?

Another item to look at is the their Layer Intersection Group number(s).

Thanks. It is the Layer Intersect Group number that enables or disables the use of the Display Order tool the Section.

The Layer Intersect Group number overrides the wall/beam Priority setting.

Once I have changed the Layer Interstect Group number, the priority setting is no longer functional.

If this is the case, then anytime the Layer Intersect Group number is controling the view the wall/beam priority setting should be grayed out since it is no longer useable.

This will take some additional checking to see if the Layer Intersect Group number always dissables the wall/beam priority settings or not, and in what way if it does.

It is not that simple. The wall and/or beam could be interacting with other walls and/or beams on other layers, or on their same layer, so the control still needs to be active.

Would it be a problem if Display Order functions could not be ennabled or dissabled by clean up priority or layer group numbers?

I think the display order should always be active and functional.

How is it useful to ever have it dissabled?

Even if the current way this works is the way it works best, I still think that anytime a tool is not functional it should be grayed out.
