Can't select drawings in Layout

I can not select drawings in my Layout.

If I use Ctrl-A I can select all but I can not hold down the shift key and deselect items either.

Any ideas about why this is happening?

Even the veteran members still fall for that one!

Maybe the Layout space should have a disclaimer...
Not my first time to have this happen either.

Eeven though the snap grid was off for drawings, Layout has a separate setting and memory for that.

Incidently the grid snap toggles when the 's' key is erroneously pressed (ie its shortcut).

That is why one of the first things I teach and do is to map the "S" key to the slab tool.
