Casting shadows with open GL

Can I set up AC to cast shadows on a model using a VR object. Using Open GL engine, VQTR2.0 engine. All the choices are greyed out.

No shadows in OpenGL, Tom! No semi-transparency either!

Cheers,

Any other way to do it within AC?

Sure!

Check the Photorendering Window when you create your VR after making sure shadow casting is turned on in Photorendering Settings!

Photorendering is sooo slooooooooooow. Any tricks to speed it up? I've tried it with a .jpg background of clouds, etc. I would suppose that slows it down a lot.

A background image isn't going to slow it down. In fact it can be used to speed things up. See Links Tip. http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/archiguide/QuickRenderTip.html

Be sure to turn off High Accuracy for Sun Shadows. Come to think of it can you live with out Shadows? Probally not. Can you turn off Lamps and or Lamp Sun Shadows? After that the next biggest time effect might be Antialising. You might ease that back to "better". (Use "good" for an animation.) The Method I would leave on "best". I don't find any time penalty there.

Go to www.abvent.com and download AV Works. Enjoy.

Nope. David P already explained it.

Your computer specs also add up to the equation, especially processor speed.

Standard OpenGL doesn't calculate cast shadows.
