Colorbond panel fence created with editing a preset railing in Australia

Hi there, has anyone in Australia successfully created colorbond fencing with an edit of a preset railing ? I don’t need a high level of detail except to show the metal sheet profile in the panel settings. How do I get a colorbond panel to show up in my railing panel setting ? A standard Bunnings fence kit with inserts is what I am trying to model up.

I do have “CI tools Coverings” installed so I might just draw a standard railing with a few edits and just clad the rail or even draw a wall and just add the colorbond profile to it ? If you have a better method please reply.

Please see the PDF below for a picture of what I am trying to model.

Thank you.

Without scripting a custom piece, it all just comes down to how small a single segment of your sheet pattern is and what gradient your fence is at.

Great job Jim to get the top of the fence to slope like that.

BTW I used a different method in this instance and made my CI tools do the work for me with the coverings tool. I created a thin invisible wall and attached the cladding to it and made a top and bottom rail appear with the coverings settings. Then I used the column tool to make the posts and the rest is history.

Thank you very much for all the help and suggestions.

Hi Jim

Would you be able to share the setting used for this?

I have tried the custom balusters but keep getting those gaps in between.

Here you go, Railings can be fiddly, but fun when you get the hang of it 😀

Hey James

I 100% agree with you. It is a powerful tool hence I am trying to utilise it.

The link you have provided is saved as Archicad 27. Are you able to provide a version in Archicad 26?

Hi all, I  have successfully transitioned from using the CI wall coverings tool with an invisible wall, to a railing with a custom colorbond sheet fence profile.

I need to taper the top of my fence down from 1.8m high to about 1.0m high. Similar to the picture that @Jim Allen, has provided above. How do I achieve this with the railings UI and how do I create a tapered top sheet profile ? (Without GDL of course)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Edit: I will try and use a tapered beam with a complex profile for the fence sheets to see if that will work or not ?
