now this would be neat if we could get this to work in AC...

it's not live, but you can use the excel camera tool to do much the same thing . . .

paste in as 'drawing elements' and all is good . . .

problem we have ran into with pasting and live linking is that only allows 45 rows...it's very limited...where is the excel camera tool.....

i've no idea where it's originally found, but i've put it out in my toolbar for easy access . . .

just select the cells you want to 'copy' and then click the camera tool. in archiCAD (or more typically a layout) 'paste' and choose 'as drawing elements'. the text comes in as text and any cell borders are retained as lines.

as i said - it's not live, but it's a pretty quick and easy way of grabbing a chunk of excel data and placing - wysiwyg - in a layout book. especially for non-OLE mac users!

For Windows users just Highlight area Ctrl-C (Copy) in Excel. Go to PlotMaker, Ctrl-V (Paste). Paste as OLE. This will be live, and Excel sheet can be opened in PM by double clicking the embedded OLE object.

archiben, this is the identical behavior I see with a simple copy paste between AC/PM. Any advantage that I'm missing?

Just did a quick test and I was able to OLE a Sheet with 83 Rows (row Height set to 15).

I am back on MS Excel 97 SR-2.

Posted something in Jan 13 2005 where I mentioned how I was pasting 'live' drawing lists from Excel into Plotmaker. There are some issues around it but when it works, it works like a dream.

under construction documentation:
archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=29170&highlight=excel&sid=a95788d9f1678972b544e5ab83917...

another recent tread also under Construction Documentation you can follow is:
archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=53770&highlight=excel#53770
it covers size of objects one can paste, etc.

I've even pasted successfully from OpenOffice.
