Coordinate List?

Is there any way to generate a txt. file consisting of a list of coordinates of any element? I want to produce a list of construction staking coordinate info. I have searched through the entire calculate menu to find some way to generate some x,y,z info of a hotspot, column, elevation dimension anything! No luck! I would be willing to pay for some help generating an object or GDL script to do this. Any help much appreciated!

Awsome!

Perfect Bill! Already tried it with Roberto Corona's object and it worked like a charm!

Thank you

Duh. Of course. Brilliant, Bill. Hopefully Djordje will copy this 'proper' tip over to where the earlier part of this thread went (with my now-to-be-disregarded special menu thing).
Will do; both methods are valid, Bill's is REALLY excellent! Congrats!

Can anyone email me this object?
Preferably in imperial units.
I could not get it to work with the ArchiRadar object.
Thanx in advance

I am still searching for a label, that when placed, will label a point with its x/y coordinate. This is needed do to the fact that most of our construction layout is done via x/y or North/East coordinates form a known point. Yes, I can read the coordinates and then copy them down manually and enter them as text into a label, but this seems so basic, I wonder why it is not included as a base item in the Archicad kit (it is in Autocad). Needs to be imperial and metric.

Doesn't anyone else use the coordinate system to lay out projects in the field? If so, how do you label building corners, site elements, etc.? It is absolutely the common way to do project layouts here in Alabama/USA. Alabama has what is called the State Plane coordinate System that all engineers reference when laying out buildings, roads, landscape, etc.. This syetm is invaluable when updating drawings as everyone uses the same relative origin, and drawings update through sets all the way from site plan through architectural and landscape architectural drawings.

Thanks!

Rip,
I am only vaguely familiar with the State Plane Coordinate System. Would it be possible for you to post an image of one of your plans to further illustrate what you need?

Do you model your projects with a known corner starting at 0',0' or do you actually place this corner at a given relative positon away from 0',0'?

Also, does the label your looking for only need to display the coordinates graphically...or does it need to produce a list file of all located points, etc?

Dave-

the starting point is relative to the 0,0 point which is located off site. The file is from the Civil who works on our projects. Note the N & E coordinates locating the transformer. This system is used for ALL layout work, including houses, parking lots, utilities, office buildings, street lights, street trees in urban areas, etc..

As it stands now, I have to send my drawings out to the Civil to insert the coordinates. having a coordinate label would save us both time and money as a consultant step would be eliminated. I formerly used the one that came with David nicholson-Coles' cookbook, but it does not work in 10 (nor did it work in 9).

As I stated in the original post, I cannot be the only archicad user that deals with this issue, and am interested in learning how others have solved the problem. It does seem like something that should be included in the tool set from GS, simply because it is such a basic skill item that can be used in multiple layout systems.

All ArchiCad-ers, thanks for your help!

Rip,
It looks like you need an object, not a label. AFAIK, a label cannot access the SYMB_POS_X & Y variables. I might have something that can be modified to meet your needs.

Since your "starting point is relative to the 0,0 point," does this mean that you actually model your information realtive to the actual distance...or is the 0',0' (absolute origin in ArchiCAD) equal to some given XY/NE coordinate?

PM me you phone number and it might be easier to talk through to a solution.

Hello,
I have been watching this thread as I am in great need of an object that labels each point with its coordinates.
I am not sure if you have reached to a solution in this.
What I need is to see the coordinates of my site plans as I draw them with a polyline.
Please if there is an object I can get I would be interested.
thank you in advance

No, I have nothing yet. Hopefully, we will find something that works, Hard to believe that this is not something a great many people could use.
