Cover fill Question

Well I'm confused about cover fills.
Basic question I would assume, but I've not used cover fills in plan like this before, but decided I should finally learn this.
I thought I should see cover fill
backround color in screen shot below, but I don't.
The uncut line shows as I have set it.
The pattern of tile shows as I have set it.
But the backround fill color does not look like the small preview in the
dialog box or the view of the top of the slab in plan.
"Use fill of surface material does nothing".
MVO has no effect that I can figure out.
I must have something switched off.
Can someone please tell me the "secret"?

The only way I could replicate what you showed was to have the Trace & Reference active and teh 'make fills and zones transparent" button in the bottom right of that box active.

You said you tried all MVOptions - what are these set to?

I did try Trace Reference, not it this time, (But thanks, I'll watch out for that one also),(and thanks for the $5 laugh).
Stuart, and Erika, it turned out to be:
"Overide fill backround color" Duh? (I had it checked) Thanks Stuart.
As I mentioned I adjusted some MVO settings but missed that one.
