Creating a Translator

Hi all,

we've been trying...unsuccessfully, to create a translator for dwg files. We've been sent a CTB file from our consultant, but haven't really been able to figure out what to do with it.

I'm not even sure if we're on the right track to creating what we want to do. We have our line weights and pen settings, and we want a translator that will translate those to our consultants line weights and pen settings. I assume this is possible.

I've done a search on the forum, but am only finding bits and pieces, but none of them have been helping me get started.

Anyone had success and can share how they did it?

Thanks!

It's a very manual process.

What you would need to do is open their CTB in Autocad and map each of your pen in Archicad to the equivalent pen in Autocad.

So, if we don't have AutoCAD, they would need to send us a document showing what each of their pen settings is?

This can easily be done with a screen shot out of Autocad with the relevant pens shown.

Out of the 256 pens possible an office typically only uses a few with the rest all set the same.
