Degrees symbol and "square" 2 symbol in text

I have recently come over to AC from TurboCAD and am used to being able to enter "%%d" in TC text and it automatically enters the degrees symbol. I think this is the same with AutoCAD.
How can I achieve this in AC?

Thanks
Colin

option naught on a mac gives degree symbol ( i guess alt on a PC). As for a superscript 2 I think you might be out of luck. for Macs, you can use the Character pallette to add superscripts (use international preference to enbale in keyboard viewer)

For a cuter degree symbol, try Option "K".
Option-Shift "8" is also interesting for a "°".

Hi Colin
I found same issue few years ago when swapping for Autocad to Archicad too.
If you are on a PC by looking up the character map under Progams / System tools / Character Map and check the font code for these sybols you use.

I use Arial Font and these just become second nature after loads of use
M² =Alt 0178
5° =Alt 0176
Ø = Alt 0126

Hope this is some help
Cheers

Thanks for the response. I use Windows, I should have said before.
I looked up the character map and found those codes. I am using the Technical font and it doesn't have a ° symbol but found the º and is just as good!

Cheers

Failure to input ²(Alt 0178) in ArchiCAD v8.1 R1 B1410 on Windows 2000 Simple Chinese Version.

Why?

but 0176 & 0177 is succeed.

Not all fonts have all characters.
