I have a large site plan and when I throw a marquee around a small section of it, a layer that spans outside the limits of the marquee (for example a roads layer) does not appear in the 3D window. But everything else is there.
This doesn't occur consistently and when I expand the limits of the marquee (but still not including the whole roads), everything is fine.
Graphic card? A marquee window trick?
thanks - chris

Ok, some more details.
I am using 8.0 R3, Win2K V5 SP4. Video card is a Radeon VE. (yeesh lotsa numbers and letters).
And sorry, mis-spoke with my question. The layer does not disappear. The layer contains many different kinds of things and what disappears is a mesh object on that layer.
When it occurs, I can pick the object and have it alone appear in the 3D window but when I go back to 2D and un-select and then go 3D again, the object disappears.
Also, on one occasion, when I 3D window'd, everything came up normally except the whole mesh object appeared, extending outside the marquee limits

Xofer,
You should upgrade to 8.1.
It is free and many problems are fixed. It's unlikely that anyone here will be able to help much with problems on 8.0. We all switched just as fast as we possibly could and are trying as hard as we can to forget that 8.0 ever existed.

I searched on this forum but couldn't find this problem listed.
I have a large site plan and when I throw a marquee around a small section of it, a layer that spans outside the limits of the marquee (for example a roads layer) does not appear in the 3D window. But everything else is there.
Could it have something to do with the "elements to show in 3D" dialog box which is found in the image menu? It has some controls on what to show when elements have the marquee around them.
