Display problem

I currently teach basic design in an a pre-architecture program. We use ArchiCad v10 for design, schematic drawing, and portfolio production. The problem I am having has something to do with model views or display sets, or something like that. I am not a veteran user, so I am probably overlooking something. I can set up plans, sections, elevations, 3d views and plotted sheets without (seemingly) any problem. The problem happens usually when I move back and forth from views with navigator. I will be working in plan and flip over to the 3d view, do some type of modification, flip back to the plan view - and the walls, slabs, etc. are not visible. They are still there, but won't show up. Some elements may show up, but they display in some kind of funky line weight. I try to adjust display settings, floor plan cut height, layer combinations, and model view options, with no luck. If I exit Archicad and restart the app. things go back to normal - but eventually I end up having the display problems again. I have seen this on several different XP Dell boxes and notebooks that we use. We don't have any high end graphics cards- just the standard gaming cards. I noticed yesterday that if I change element uncut outline color from black to grey, the objects show up (but they still have a funny lineweight/look). I don't remember having this kind of problem with v9.

Yuo have different layer combinations for plan and 3D right?
When you go to the saved 3D view using the Navigator, you get it's layer combo to show - it gets current.
Then if you go back to the plan by clicking in the open plan window, the 3D layer combo is still current, and thos things that werent visible in 3D still don't show.
The workaround is to save views from the floor plan and instead of clicking in the open window, click on the saved plan view in the Navigator.
This is also easier to manage if you save named layer combinations and use them when you save the views.
Also, floor plan cutplanes are saved with the views. Thus it might change for the same reason as above.

Thanks for the suggestions Thomas and Djordje. The problem seems to be the same as the problems in the posts indicated by Djordje. Is the changing pen sets fix the only way to deal with this problem?
