The door is a child of the wall, you probably need to set the wall to existing first.

Renovation Status is assigned using the "Renovations Palette" not selected in "Door Settings".

Open the palette under the Window Menu.

To add some more detail to what @Stefan L_ wrote:

The Renovation Status of the Wall may limit what the Renovation Status of the Door/Window can be.

  • If the Wall's Renovation Status is "Existing", the Renovation Status of the Door/Window placed into it can any of the 3 possible values.
  • If the Wall's Renovation Status is "To be Demolished", the Reno Status of the Door/Window will be the same as that of the host Wall ("To be Demolished"). - If you demolish the Wall, the Door/Window will also be demolished.
  • If the Wall's Renovation Status is "New", again, after placement, the Reno Status of the Door/Window will be the same as that of the host Wall ("New"). - You can only place a new Door/Window into a new Wall.

So, when the Wall is not Existing, Archicad will force the placed Door/Window to have the same Reno Status as the Wall, regardless of what default Reno Status was set for the Door/Window before placement.

The below image shows the 5 possible combinations.
