Drawing an Arc Length

Anonymous
Not applicable
Is there any way to draw a precise Arc length using Archicad?

I am working from a surveyor's drawing, and need to input the arc length with a given radius.

(I think I know the answer is "no" or "buy an add-on" but I am posing the question so I can ask the next question: Why not? )

One other thing to note is if you switch on Special Snap Points and enter a distance you can use this to measure along an arc a specific distance and then bung a hotspot on the measured point to then allow you to generate further geometry from that point.

FUZZYTNTH3 -

Thanks for the Arc Tool and Special Snap Point tip. I have tried the Arc Tool and it works quite well. Now, how do I hide the dashed radius lines. Radius lines are okay for some uses, but on a survey drawing the radius lines will overly clutter the drawing.

Ahh you want blood

I didn't use the arc tool for actual finished dwgs but as a way of establishing setting out points. I kept the arc object on a Setting Out layer which was kept locked so none of the other Team members could move it by mistake. That way we could always refer back to the setting out layer in case someone mucked things up with a wall or slab.

To answer your question it would be quite simple to add a parameter to the object to have the choice of seeing the lines or not. It could even just show a cross hair target for the radi point instead. What would you prefer?

Actually all you need is a hot spot at the radi point, then you could "bung" it if you needed repeat radii. ''

Here ya go I've tweaked it so the lines can be any colour you want and also visible or not.
