Esc/cancel when drawing polylines

I'm not sure if this is a wish for AC9.1 or if it's just some setting I've missed:
When I'm entering lines or polylines (or walls etc) in Chain mode (that is the second "line geometry method"), if I press the Cancel button or the Esc key, the whole shebang disappears.

1. I would like this to be a two-step operation:

a. Like in AC7, one Cancel/Esc should kill the current "rubberbanding" segment, but leave the rest "pending" for me to OK or kill.

b. After that, an OK button click, an Enter keypress, or a mouseclick elsewhere should place the linechain.
Or: a second Cancel/Esc should kill the whole thing like just one does now.

2. Also, if you have not pressed Cancel/Esc at all, an Enter keypress should place the whole linechain including the current rubberbanding segment up to the current cursor position or to the position you've entered in the Coordinate Box.

This order would give me more control, more options, and require less mouse traveling to hunt for the OK button to click. In fact, it would also practically eliminate the need to set the tool for entering Single lines. Thus, a superior workflow!

Comments? Should this be a wish item?

I am very much in favor of a key stroke that allows you to finish drawing a multiple segment line etc. In 6.5 the back space worked in this fashion. Can you program a shortcut for the OK button? Perhaps that is the short term awnser. Clicking the same point twice is slow and cumbersome.
Look in WE and shortcuts with alphabetical order of them. You will find OK to assign a short key to.

I am for Esc button! Much easier and convenient! Double-clicking is slow even if you adjust mouse-double-click-speed in the mouse software. And it's also easier to push Esc than Backspace - it's closer to my left hand.

Somewhere between version 5 and 8 functions, performed by Backspace button, were switched to Del button. Fine with me! I've mapped Del to my mouse button. Then WHY BRING BACK Backspace ?!

I am using just a five-button mouse - should I switch to a seven-button?

Or buy a piano...
