Evoking Distance guide

Is there a way I can evoke distance guides? It sometimes pops up, sometimes it does not!

If the new file shows guides OK and then you copy those elements across and the guides don't work on them, then there is something wrong with those elements.

All I can think of is that they are not perfectly square to each other.

Or maybe it is a polygon wall rather than a regular wall?

Its a normal wall and are perfectly square. Can i send the file to you?

Sure.

Save it to a transfer site and post the link, or send me the link in a private message if you don't want others to have access.

Thanks a ton. I will send it across.

Strange one that I have not come across before.

There is a slab around the building.

If I delete it or move it out of the way, the distance guides work.

Or change its layer and turn that layer off (it is the same layer as the walls at the moment).

But now the question is, why does it not affect all walls inside the slab area?

They appear to be identical walls.

I don't have an answer for this.

Solution

There is something about a slab that is making certain walls be ignored by the distance guides.

Glad you figured out the issue! is this a bug? Will archicad do something?

Thank you

Solution

It is the slab cover fill that is affecting it.

Turn it off and it all works as expected.

Except for the objects, I can't get them to have distance guides.

The cover fill I would think is a bug, but I have not used distance guides enough to know for sure.

I would have to read up about them and see if there is anything in the documentation that mentions this.

I don't recall anything in Beta testing.

I am not really using 28 at the moment and probably would not use the distance guides a lot anyway.

I am a bit old school and find them more annoying than helpful.

And if I do use them I never use cover fills on my slabs, which is why I have never noticed this.

Having said this, I just tried my template with walls and objects on a slab with cover fills, and it all works perfectly.

You seem to have old objects (version 16) in your file so maybe it is an old file that is causing the issues.

I just did an 'open & repair' on your file and it made no difference.

I think I would be sending this off to your local support and see what they have to say.
