Group Operation Error ???

I am attempting to put SE 9 windows in a standard wall and getting the following error:
GROUP OPERATION ERROR
at line 876 of file Wa_Trim_US_1- SE 9.gsm

I have 2g of memory with 1g available on XP Pro

The error occurs when I try to open 3D window. The error does NOT occur in other projects so there must be a conflict with something I placed into the project. ANy Suggestions on where to look?

THANKS

Do you have any other libraries loaded?

Have you tried modeling just the wall containing the troublesome window?
It's the window's fault, but it's your problem. Most likely you have put a setting in the window that has caused an error. (In the other project, different settings, no problem.) The message means there's a mistake in the window's code, probably having to do with the trim settings, judging by the 'Wa_Trim_US_1- SE 9.gsm'. In other words, they didn't anticipate someone using a setting in a certain way. To find the actual error would require digging into the code. Then to fix it is a whole other thing, not properly your responsibility.

Better to figure out which window(s) are causing the error, then try changing the trim settings until it goes away.

Good luck,

-- This was strange - I tried reloading libraries, merging to new template, etc. to no avail. The problem persisted on all types of windows. So I tried just COPYing external wall, internal walls and other parts, all seperately to a new template so I would not have to re-draw the floor plan. There must have been something in the drawing that got corrupted that did not COPY over because now it works ????
Alright, that sounds more like a bug, or a freak corruption thing. I don't like things like that, but out of sight/out of mind. Until next time. Carry on...

I've been having the same problem, with exactly the same error message. I finally narrowed it down to one window in one wall. funny thing is...it was (so I thought) exactly the same as the other windows...esp. as I had turkey-basted and then injected this window with the properties of the adjacent windows...as I had done with ALL the other windows, actually. The only difference SEEMED to be that I had it set to gang on the left. Others ganged on the right, or both sides, and had no problem. WEIRD.
Pt 2., previous this weirdness, I had inherited a model from someone and the sills and head trim were careening recklessly off into space, for no reason. When I copied the ENTIRE MODEL into a new template, the problem disappeared, altogether. Nary a murmur of dissent. I don't get it. Something about the interaction of a window setting and some global, project-based setting? I don't know enough to troubleshoot it, just wanted to get my 2c in.

Yep; for me it's the left-gang button, in conjunction with Some Great Unknown...if it's just the right-gang, s'ok, if it's both, s'ok. So. I don't know where I could assign a characteristic asymmetrically, so I'm puzzled by this problem's chirality. Don't cha know.

Does anyone know how I can root out the source of this problem? It is recurring.
Thanks!

Just a comment to add ... that relates to the problem-tracking process below and not necessarily to the subject of this thread!

A variety of errors do not appear in plan (2D) because the 3D view of objects is most often generated by a completely independent script from the 2D view.

A client had a similar problem with multiple errors in the 3D (or elevation) window. I ended up marqueeing various areas until I found the problem

You can avoid this 3D "surprises" relatively easily:

[Tip]: Before leaving the Settings dialog for any library part, click on the 3D (axo) preview as well as the 2D previews. If any errors will be generated, you'll almost always get the message right there and then. This way, you know that you are only placing valid elements in the project.

Naturally, more rigorous error-checking in all library parts would prevent many of these error messages - most of which arise when something is set to zero that cannot be zero (or less) - such as trim thickness. Users should never see messages like that that prompted this thread. Like James said: it is the windows (graphisoft's) fault, but is the user's problem to fix it (today).

Good tip! But in my case, to no avail...when I look at the previews in the Settings dialog, I get no indication of errors. No errors in plan, and no errors in 3D (axon) view, either. It is Only when I look in section/ elevation that I get the error message...! And, I get Many of them...sometimes 16 or more. I can't narrow it down to a single window; I deleted all my windows, one by one, and the # of error messages decreased, until I had no windows and no errors. But then when I added a new window with the factory defaults-that is, no weird changes on my part- I got the error messages again! I don't get it. Is it perhaps the interaction of the wall and the window, then?
thanks--!
