Hollow objects

Hi, I'm a new user of archicad, so please excuse me if i ask silly questions.
Could someone please tell me how to make the ellipsoid object (from basic shapes) hollow. Could I somehow cut another ellipsoid out of it?

Using a Solid Element Operation [SEO], a smaller ellipsoid can subtract the innards of the larger one. I made the smaller one with an equal reduction of all axes.

Or you could revolve an Ellipse shape with the Shell Tool, which will create the Ellipsoid body with the specified shell thickness.
The advantage of this method is that the thickness of the body will be constant at all points of the body.

Thank you so much for replying!

Dwight, so I created two ellipsoids, one within another, then went to design - Solid Element Operation, it the SEO box - do I chose 'get target element' and then select bigger shape? Then 'get operator element' and select a smaller shape? Subtraction and Execute? Is it correct?

Sounds Good.
But why write when it takes less time to actually try it out?
That's why they made "undo."

Be courageous.

SEO is very useful - see the reference manual.

laszlonagy, thank you too for your advice. I tried shell tool but I couldn't figure out how to create an ellipse with it and could not find any tutorials about hollow spheres. Could you recommend any, I'd be grateful.

Dwight, I've done it. But don't know if it worked

Could you please advise me on how to make an opening in it?

Use your marquee to cut into the object in 3D view.

I'm really sorry to bother you, but do you mind explaining how to use marquee tool to make an opening?

Can I also show the shape I'm working on, may be it will be easier to understand what I'm trying to do?

I'd like to add opening to the bottom one and openings where the ellipsoids intersect.

Marquee tool only lets you look inside - it doesn't cut holes.

Use other elements to cut openings with SEO. Like a slab or wall shape.

To make a hole between overlapping items, i'm not sure but you might do a double reverse SEO subtraction: A>B, then B>A.
