I am not sure what you have experienced here.
My understanding is that Hotlink Modules (.MOD files) contain only those attributes necessary for the module itself. It shouldn't have any extra attributes from the file it was created from.
You can hotlink a .PLN file and that will contain all attributes whether they are used in the module or not.
My only suggestion is when you open each module is to use the Attribute Manager to bring in the attributes you need from your master file.
You should then be able to use them but i assume any unused ones will disappear again when saved back as a MOD file.
Barry.

I also don't think library paths are saved when you "Save as Module" if that was what was done originally. Only what is embedded is kept. So if it is library parts that are missing, you could re-link those as well.

If I open the file directly, then only the relevant essential attributes are presented.
If I follow my normal workflow in the HLM host file of selecting the module, right click for the context menu and "Edit Module in separate ARCHICAD" then I normally get the additional host attributes, which is great if changing profiles or materials but I am getting a different set of attributes which suggests there is some kind of messed up file reference.

When you open a new Archicad it will ask you if you want to "Set up Project Settings" based on a template or the latest project settings.
Maybe by using "Edit Module in separate ARCHICAD" it skips this option but uses what ever was set there.
So you are getting the default template attributes rather than your latest job.
Open Archicad separately and see if setting it to "Use Latest Project Settings" helps next time you right click on a module.

Thanks Barry but the attributes aren't coming from a template file, they are definitely from a different project.
I am theorising here because I can't see any logic in the background attributes that are being presented...
One thing I am prone to do with the Mac is leave my apps running, this means having launched AC it will remain open whilst jumping between new & different projects. The same can apply if I open a module in a separate instance of AC. If I can see a benefit to having two instances open I will do so and the second may again jump between different projects depending on work demands before returning to module editing. All I can assume for the time being is AC is using the "latest project settings" and last set of attributes when opening a module file even if it they are irrelevant to the module host. Perhaps shutting down AC between projects is the only way to resolve this but the time it takes to launch a new session of AC makes this my least favourite fix.
