How to make a non-ortho hole in a wall?

How to resolve this? I need to make the windows cut a non-ortho hole in walls... I had a similar question a few days ago regarding skylights and holes in roofs, but I have absolutely no idea how to work this out!

In 2D I can create a patch, and in 3D I can use SEO to make the kind of hole I need, but for every change I make, the process must be repeated. Is there a way to do this really easy?

it takes four holes overlapping - one goes up toward each corner.

To learn the wallhole direction, start changing the code - this kind of vector tuning is easy, try 1,1,1 - should yield a 45 degree angle.

Neat idea Dwight. This could be tip o' the month material.

Hi, Marin, hope thisl helps you. It's good for use in Plan View though.

It will work if he layer intersection numbers are different - the wall with the window is on a different layer.

No, the splaying should be a parameter ...

I have to deal everyday with such wall junction situations. With some habit, it is not so difficult.

Using the wallhole command with x,y,z axis statments, is a good way, but for a correct display of the 2D window symbol,
you have to script it, and this is not easy if you are not familiar with GDL. Better to use a 3D hiden layer to achieve this.

Regardless of the solution ( they are all tricky) this certainly points to a desire/need for hardcoded solution as this is not an uncommon wall window arrangement.

The other thing Id like to see in windows is the ability to return the outside leaf back into the window. I know some windows have it in their scripting but I think it should be part of the standard window settings options (as well as the currently discussed reveal splaying).

The easiest response seems to be a chamfered insert with independent - non-symmetric- angles...

Here is an empty opening (window) I just whipped up which you can specify the reveal angle relative to the adjoining wall. Superimpose your window or door of choice to round out the solution.

Hope it works!!

I cant guarantee that it will work in all circumstances. particulary if applying a sill. Also Composite walls dont work although it could be done.
