Pickup Parameters in Archicad allow you to quickly transfer settings from one element to another, streamlining your workflow and ensuring consistency across your project.

Here are some cool tips on the Pickup Parameters that will simplify your work in Archicad:

Need a New Window While Keeping the Same Style? Here's How:

You can create a new window with the same style as an existing one by following these simple steps:

Transfer the Characteristics of Your Current Window

  • Open the window dialog.
  • Before selecting the new window style, press Ctrl + Alt (Windows) or Command + Option (Mac).
  • This action transfers all the settings from the existing window to the new one, including details like:
    • Frame material
    • Handle type
    • Sash options
    • Additional customizations

Fine-Tune the Settings

  • After the characteristics are transferred, you can make any necessary adjustments to better fit your needs.

This process is efficient and works not only for windows but also for other library elements such as objects and doors.

Extend Functionality with Trace and Reference

  • If you’re trying to match a new element, such as a sofa, with existing furniture, use the Pickup Parameters tool on referenced elements.
  • Apply the picked-up parameters to the active view, ensuring consistency and alignment in your design.

Activate Trace and Reference

  • Open the project that contains the elements you want to reference.
  • Enable the Trace and Reference feature by navigating to the toolbar or pressing the shortcut Alt + F2 (Windows) or Option + F2 (Mac).

Use the Pickup Parameters tool

  • Activate the Pickup Parameters tool. Pressing the shortcut Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) while selecting the element on the reference.
  • The tool will store all settings of the reference element, such as dimensions, material, and style.
  • Press the shortcut Ctrl + Alt (Windows) or Command + Option (Mac) while selecting the element (e.g., the sofa or window) that needs to match the reference.
  • The active element will now adopt the parameters from the referenced one.
