Best of all, if you want to do a series of shadow diagrams showing progression of shadows at different time of day/year, marquee the image in 3d detail window and copy/paste it in the same window (away from live view), change sun settings, update 3d detail window and repeat as often as required.

Nice. And it looks as if it is the answer to the age-old 'give me a true top view 2D drawing too'.
