MacMice mouse question

I recently purchased a MacMice mouse and by accident I found that the scroll wheel would enable panning when depressed. So, not only could the wheel zoom in and out but also pan. All this with out any keystroke. It was wonderful. I do not remember setting it up in the preferences. It did on my PowerBook but not my desktop. When I tried to get the same setting on my desktop, I could not and in the process I changed my PowerBook setting so now it doesn't do it there either.

Can anyone help me or does anyone use the MacMice mouse?

I wrote MacMice and they had no idea.

Mac OS? I use a MS Trackball w/ no drivers installed. When I install the drivers I loose the panning feature. One thing to note is that most crashes I experience are while using these wheel functions. The speed in navigation far outweigh the nuisance. Save a lot especially in PM.

Yes, Mac OS X, Panther.

I will try un-installing the drivers.

Thank you for your suggestion.

i'm using a macally 'icemouse' - same deal:

by default the scroll button pans; with the official drivers installed it doesn't!

get rid of the 'official' drivers!
