Magic Wand stopped working on mesh pline contours

So..it's happened a few times.
Seems something happens with the preferences (of which I can not locate) to clean them out so the magic wand can start working again.

As of this moment, the magic want will not work when trying to select plines for creating mesh contour lines.

Please, help.

And now I know why I missed this simple step. I no longer have my Toolbar visible, so I didn't notice that I wasn't selecting the Mesh Tool. Wow. That's interesting and a bit relieving.

FYI, I am still a proponent of turning the Toolbar into a dropdown menu:
