Modeling sloped forms

I am attempting to model a buttruss intersecting with a sloped wall. Through the used of complex profiles and composites I have the model looking correct (image 1), but the plan is awful (Image 2). The corners do not clean up well nor do the side walls maintain their thickness.

Does anyone have any suggestions for methods to get both the plan and model to appear correct for this type of condition?

How about this, using the straight vs slant "wall complexity setting?
You must use SEO to get rid of the overlapping slant wall.
The slanted wall has floor plan display set to "cut only".
A little work with skin priorities would probably improve this plan view.

Snap,

Not quite. The wall that the buttress supports is sloped away from the buttress as well.

Now? Both walls slanted, main wall cut with split tool to improve automatic intersection with the straight buttress side walls.
You have to place the slab carefully, maybe even hide it after SEO.

EDIT: actually you might just use the main wall to SEO the buitress wall with sub w/downward extrusion...

You can also model that sloped part using the Mesh Tool.
2D will not look cut though, if you are after that.

Erich,

It also looks like it could be a skin priority issue. That at least might clean up some of the ugliness.

Lazlo, in this case the 2D is important (I already had the 3D anyway)

Jared, yes you are correct that the priorities were not right. Fixing them did improve things but did not correct things completely.

Playing with this some more and trying Snap's thought to use a simpler angled walls has not resolved things yet either. It appears that if the vertical side walls are shorter in length than the projection of the angled buttress wall (keeping these two elements completely separate from the rest of the model to avoid any other complications) then they fail to clean up as shown in my screen shots. If the vertical side walls are just slightly longer than the sloped wall, then the clean up is appropriate. Now I just have to play with the model to see if I can make that work with everything else.

Aha, going back and looking again at what Snap said...

I changed the floor plan display of the sloped wall to projected and now get a correct display.

Thanks. all.
