New layer on an existing wall using Renovation tool

Hello,

I am working on a refurbishment project at my studio.

We have existing structural brick walls and we propose to insulate them on the exterior (using ETICS)

How can I achieve something similar to the image shown below with the renovation tool? That is, show in red, as new, only the insulation layer.

As far as i have read, I cannot assign different renovation status on the different layers of a composite wall.

I could draw "existing" and "new" layers as separate components, but i do not think this is the proper way to work with archicad, plus I would then have to draw 1 window + 1 hole for each window, and I am not sure that i would be able to create the insulation returning the jambs.

Any help is welcomed!

Alejandro

The only way to indicate them separately is to model the skins separately.

The override of the renovation filter will act on the entire element, not just each skin.

Hi Barry,

I thought about that but it does not seem really efficient (i would have to place window in one skin and an opening on the other skin), plus, the insulation return on the jambs i not going to show as nicely.

Though, it does not seem to be another option, isn't it?

Not convenient at all, but that is the way it has to be done if you want control of the individual leaves.

Otherwise you need to demolish the existing wall and add an entirely new wall, which as you say is technically not what you are doing.

Ok, thank you!
