No opening in 3d

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have placed a double door in a curved wall. The 2d representation looks fine but when I switch to 3d there is no door opening. In order to even see the doors I have to change the 3d swing to something other than 0° and then you see the doors swung open and a rock wall behind them (see example below). Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Thanks

Are you sure you don't have duplicate walls on top of each other?

Select just the Door in plan then open the 3D window... Is the opening there. If it is, that's the problem. Delete the duplicate wall(s).

Only one (1) wall. Any other ideas?

Is it a curved wall (one arc) or a series of straight segments, generated by magic wanding and existing curve?

If the latter is true, then you have to redo the wall - you can place a door into any lenght straight segment, AND the rest of the walls will fill in the opening.

Alternatively, the library part might be wrong, even missing the wallhole part. Is it happening with any other wall?

It is a curved wall consisting of one arc.

The same library part works perfectly in straight walls. It punches the hole right through the wall like it should.

Sounds like the problem is with the object. Which door object are you using? So I can test a copy on my end.

Pick any door you want. They all do the same thing for me. It's like they won't punch the hole in an arc wall or something. They all work great on straight wall segments, but put them on a curved wall and there's a problem.

I created the wall using the Curved wall construction method. Under that I selected the first option (enter arc wall centerpoint, arc wall start point, arc wall end point). Then select any door and see what you get in the 3d window.

You're right. I've tried a couple of the doors provided with the stock AC8.1 US Library, same result - no opening. I tried one of my own custom doors - it looked fine.

I can't believe nobody caught this bug during the Beta test (me, being one of the testers). I guess not too many testers use the stock library of doors?!

I use stock doors, but I never use curved walls so didn't try that.

Shame on you, Karl!

We have until the end of this weekend to send a bug report into the 8.1 Beta Team on this!
