the background fill with number -1 has a little screen icon.

What does it do?

(Also FYI a GDL script wont recognise a pen with a negative number)

it is window background colour: similar to wipe-out in autocad - it's something akin to a true patch background - everything behind it gets wiped out to the background colour that you're using.

not used it much yet . . .

just a thought, but will a GDL script recognise '-1' as a pen colour when written in the correct place for background pens?

This is useful for masking out areas of a drawing when saving to a dwg. Without it we have all ended up sending an entire floor plan instead of, for example, just the kitchen. Be sure to use the "empty fill" with the last pen choice (looks like a TV and is after the Ø fill) to mask out all areas of the drawing in question.
