Plotting a pasted object in Archicad

Hey guys,

I have been using Archicad for about a year and was basically self trained so I know I have missed a ton of stuff. Essentially my problem is this... I have some scanned immages that I have pasted into my drawing and would like to have appear on the drawing when I plot it out. Unfortunately it seems that pasted images will not plot out. They just dont appear at all on the drawing.

Is there some setting I have missed or something that I can do to make the images appear when I send the file to the plotter? I do not use plotmaker, all of my work is done in Archicad.

So Archicad does not have the capability to plot pasted items beyond 'Print'?

Not that.

Plotters usually don't handle bitmaps, but vectors.

So if you use PRINT instead of PLOT, it should work. Your "plotter" is really just a very large printer, anyway.

What is Your advantage of using AC instead of PM? What is it that you use that cannot be set up in PM?

In my humble opinion it is easier to use the import/export function of AC/PM than the "TYPICAL AUTOCAD SETTUP." No offence but the layout and title block are much easier maintained in PM. That is why I have sswitched to AC from autocad.

Anyway, if there is an advantage to AC vs. PM, I am totally open to the options.

I've seen a lot of defenses, but they usually amount to either a very special set of circumstances that requires it or just a simple lack of understanding of the capabilities, methods, and benefits (which I tend to blame on the resellers, not the individuals).

I agree. There are special circumstances that would requires this but it isn't something that PM couldn't handle. But that is my opinion. And another opinion agrees that it is the resellers. Anyway, I think that PM is the best but If there is something you use AC for instead let me know.

Is there any way to convert one image to another so that the plot tool will work?

As stated use Plotmaker.

Place the Image in one of you Layouts or in your master layout in the case of desiring an image to be displayed on all sheets with that Master Layout assigned to them. This is the case with an image that I have on all of my sheets. (See Attached)

I fought using PlotMaker for well over a year. Part way through using AC 7, I began using it (PM 2.3). It had its difficulties. Once AC 8 came out and the companion PM 3.0, I was sold. (that is on PM, the AC 8 release was a nightmare, which was remedied with AC 8.1).

Most of my earlier resistance was due to the need to create PMK files in AC and then link those PMK's to sheets in PM. I forget exactly when Linking the views directly from the PLN file to PM came into existence, but now that is mostly all that is done. If some or all of this sounds foreign look for some local help. Using PM is a Must.

Djordie hit on something...it could be your plotter for example...our 1055HP won't print fill hides...can't seem to figure this one out...but I found a work around....I can make a pdf, hide fill works and then send it to the plotter...go figure....so when I find something doesn't work, just so...I give pdf a shot....thats all for me
