Project Info - v16

started v16 a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised & disappointed to find out that the Sorting option for the Project Info window had disappeared. We don't use any add-ons (Cadimage or similar) to update drawing revisions, but have to rely on the Project Info auto-text capabilities to update drawing revisions in two places -- the cover page & the affected drawing.

seeeing as v16 has 3 main fields in Project Info: "Project & Site Details", "Architect Details", & "Client Details" is there a way to add other main fields to use the autotext capabilities of Project Info?

also, what are the chances that the Sorting option (either Number, Name, or Description) will be brought back in v16? i guess i shouldn't be holding my breath?

There was lots of discussion over the changes to Project Info, including the wish for more than the three groups (they are only groupings, not fields) you mention above.

You can add as many fields as you want to each of the three groups. But, you cannot add new groups.

Having sorting return to 16 is highly unlikely ... hotfixes almost never contain new features, only bug fixes. It does seem like an unfortunate omission.

Also unfortunate is that the only Export format for Project Info is XML. I was hoping that Excel was an option ... then you could just export, sort and import. Lame, but a workaround. There are XML sorting apps our there, so exporting XML, sorting and re-importing might be a workaround too.

I noticed that the project info box for Site Complete Address automatically puts a "comma" after each line. This is not needed for a title sheet. Can these be deleted some way?

Can't change - part of GS's "feature" here, which includes a comma between state and zip code which never happens.

Only workaround is to ignore this field and create your own site address autotext field(s) by clicking the "Add" button, then use that autotext on your title sheet/etc.

While they are there in the Project Info dialog box, they don't show up as part of AutoText. The comma in the text field in my image was added as a separate item, the rest are AutoText items (#Site State, etc.).

Thanks for the reply. Wonder why they chose to put the commas in?
Looks like a quick fix to change in in the next update.
If commas are needed, the user can insert them in the Info box.

Good to know, David. Thanks for testing and clarifying. I didn't take the time to test the address autotext insertion, just assuming that what I saw was what I'd get.

To separate the text blocks when viewing the address in the Project Info dialog box. When editing the address in the Site Address dialog box, then individual items are clear.
