RAILINGS NOT VISIBLE

Johann_P

I have a challenge with railings this morning.

The railing on the stair shows in 3D, but not in plan nor section.

There seem to be a "silhouette" of the railing on section, and I can select it, but its not visible on the drawings.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Check if there are duplicate railings (select one and delete it).
Try different graphic overrides, and check the rules in the one you are using.
Try different pens in the settings?

Hope one of these works... 😄

Also, check the Railing setting in the Model View Options Dialog.
Your Railing may be set to "Schematic" display mode in 3D and Sections/Elevations.

I have stumbled across the same problem as the original post. Also in AC24.

It has nothing to do with Duplicates, Graphic Overrides, Model View Options, Pensets or anything similar. Certain Railings (not all of them) in my project just started acting like that for no reason.

I can create a new railing with the same settings as the "buggy" one and it works just fine, but when I copy the faulty railing, it is invisible in 2D no matter what settings I use.

So all there is to do is to delete all the faulty railings and create new ones... buggy buggy buggy

Try playing around with different renovation filters.

Are you using one that 'shows all'?

A railing as a whole element can have a particular renovation status.

But the individual parts can have completely different renovation status.

Look at the railing reno status and then look at the parts (rails, posts, etc.) and see if they have the same or different status.

To change the status of the parts you have to go into 'Edit' mode.

Sorry for a late reply, but thanks Barry, that was my problem. Although it was strange that individual parts of my Railings got somehow different Renovation Status.

Barry,

I'm setting up our new template in V27 (old one was V24) and am having a similar problem with the exception that I can see the toprail in plan and section view, but nothing else. I've checked all the model view options, reno status/filters, layers, pens, etc and everything is exactly the same as in our old V24 template.

The renovation status of all the individual railing elements appears to be correct, however I am not able to change the renovation status as it's greyed out when in the railing edit mode. All other railing elements have the same renovation properties.

The interesting quirk is that when I change the renovation filter (which is currently set to show only new construction) to either override or show the existing construction (which we don't use, everything is modeled as new), then the posts, panels, rails etc display in plan view but still not in section.

I can't figure this out...

Check Your Model View Options to see if the railing is set to show as 'Full', 'Simplified' or 'Schematic'.

The MVO was set to full and all of the railing plan symbol components were turned on.
