How do you align roof fills with the roof accessory tool

I do not believe this is possible.
The roof accessory always starts at the lower
left corner of the roof to build both the 2D symbol
and the 3D object. If you un-link the object from
the roof by selecting the object and cutting it
then pasting the object back into the plan
you can drag it around but you can't change
it by stretching etc. It is not a real 2D fill but
the 2D symbol of an object.

Try moving the roof pivot line. You may have to use a bit of trial and error to get alignment.

Hello Mark,
There was a myth that the roof accessory started from
the center point of the pivot line as the center point of the pattern
and therefor one could control where the pattern started
but I am fairly sure it is a myth.
I tried this evening to change the center of the roof pivot line
but it had no effect on the surfacer object either in 2D or 3D.
I did not check this with all of the surfacer types but from what
I can tell from the code this would make no difference.
It could be that the add-on in some earlier version did this
but from AC 8.1 on it did not.

Hi Peter:
I just tried it with the "standing seam", roof surfacer. I copied the gable roofs (in the middle).... up to the top, and adjusted the pivot line to get the sides to align. It takes zooming in and trial & error... Not perfect, but it seems to work.

The bottom roofs alignment was achieved by mirroring a copy of one half the roof.

This was also the one I worked with.
I notice in your image that you are
shifting something but can you make
the standing seam pattern be centered
on the roof so that the first and last seam
are equidistant from the both rake edges ?

I did a search and came up with this thread

It works using Link's tip. Align the left edge of the pivots to the centerline of the roof:

Thanks for trying Links tip.
So, it can be done using the left end of the pivot line
aligned with the center of the roof.

Hello Mark,
I just did a test with the roof surfacer
using Links tip. Yes the 2D pattern can be
shifted but if you look at the pattern in 3D
it does not correspond to the pattern in 2D.

As Duane said "Bummer".
