License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Selection problems in section, elevatioin, detail windows

I have had an issue where elements in section, elevation, or detail windows appear on my monitor to be in one location, but when attempting to select anything in these windows one finds that the expected nodes are not where they should be. This is a bit difficult to explain so bear with me and attempted screen captures don't get a useful illustration.

This "bug" is periodic and going to other views and returning to the problematic view will often clear up the issue. This just happened again this morning in a detail window. I tried to select a fill by a corner node and no snap point (check mark) were at any of the corners. If I move my cursor around I would find the node and get pre-selection highlight about 5 inches below where the element is displayed on my screen. This actually seemed to be a pixel distance since at different zooms this distance varied. This could be seen be relocating the user origin to this node and zooming in or out. In essence the element appears to be displaying in the wrong location on the monitor.

Could this be graphic card related? I have an ATI Radeon 9650 card in the computer in question. Have any others run across these strange display issues? I have seen this both in AC 10 and AC 11.

We've seen that too. Usually just quitting and reopening Archicad solved it.

Do you know if this bug has been reported? Its a difficult one since it is periodic.

I haven't reported it, though I don't know if anyone else has.

I have seen a similar problem in the 3D window, where we click on one element and an entirely different element is selected, which is not even near the desired element!

Haven't reported it yet either.

Cheers,

I have encountered this as well in the 3D window and wondered whether these two selection anomalies were related. In the 3D window my sense is that it shows itself when viewing an area limited by the marquee. It is also most prevalent when selecting using the "magnet".

I sent of a message reporting this "bug", but without being able to provide a means to reproduce it will make it difficult to track down.

reported during AC9 testing.

it's something to do with the use of the marquee: when the marquee is cutting elements, only the elements within the marquee are shown in the 3D window, but all elements nodes are present. means you can be selecting 'hidden' nodes far too easily. i believe they've managed to sort of hide the phenomenon slightly, (i recall betas where i couldn't actually select anything that was actually visible in the 3D window due to excess hidden nodes), but it ain't fixed.

also reported again since. it must be a tough one to crack . . .

It happened to me for the first time today. It was in plan view with no marquee involved. I forget what fixed it. I don't thing it was pan, zoom or rebuild. I think I just switched to 3D and back, but I didn't have to relaunch AC.

I didn't report it either.

Interestingly I've had similar problems occur to me as well, both in AC10 -

Sometimes when you try to select objects near to you in the 3d window, it appears as if it isn't there and selects something behind instead. Closing the 3d window and opening it again seems to correct it for me.

Also when working in 3d window, if I switch back quickly to the floor plan window before the 3d window has finished redrawing all the elements, the 2d window sort-of freezes - you can still use an area the same size as the 3d window on plan, but the rest has stalled. A restart of the program is needed to get it to work properly again. (Actually whilst playing about I found resizing the window from big to small to big again seems to bring it to life once more.) I still don't think it should do it though.

I can seem to reproduce it fairly easily. See attached screenshot. You can see the 'stalled' area to the right hand side and bottom of the floor plan.

I assume it's because of my under-powered graphics card, as I don't hear it mentioned ever. Time to upgrade perhaps!!
