Shortcut Keys in 9.0

You know for all the complaining about the manuals I did use and read them. I realize it's a money thing, but for all that AC costs I resent having to print out my own manuals.

When I go to the AC help button and look up keyboard shortcuts, it tells me "from the left hand list window......". Where is that located?

Thanks,

Don

Don:

I think you should be going to Options>Work Environment... and then selecting "Keyboard shortcuts" from the left hand list to be able to modify the shortcuts. As others have mentioned (and this has been my experience also), you will be making a lot of trips to this dialog box when you start using ArchiCAD 9 to fine tune your work space. HTH.

I am absolutely pleased with AC9, however have some issues with the customizable key commands, or lack of, as I have been using the AC standards with a few customized ones, almost exclusively, for years. First of all you've got to love command H what a stretch that is eh? I never did get used to the stretchability of the elements in 8 but am quickly getting the hang now. Just getting back in the groove after a massive coronary and thought I was done for here, when the BR failed to show its ugly face, I was quite relieved to find it now has a new function. I still do this regularly though not as frequent. The one command that doesn't appear to be available is the good old zoom as you get by selecting the magnifying glass at the bottom of the window, the "new" zoom is rather beat as it zooms to the center and not to where the cursor is placed as it does with the mouse wheel which isn't always available. The zoom features are all good in their own ways but a customizable key command to duplicate this type of zoom would be nice. Over all the customizability is great. AC 9 has definitely again raised the mark for CAD standards.

Thanks GS

We got manuals (hard copies) for every license we bought.

You can set this in your work environment by selecting Zoom In and setting it to your favorite shortcut key. I set mine to F12 something that hasn't been possible until now. No more need to buy $100 quickeys to supplement $3600 Archicad.

Tip for Mac users:
If you do not assign Command H and/or Command-Option H in your keyboard shortcuts, then quit and restart ArchiCAD 9, you will have the Hide ArchiCAD and Hide Others function under the ArchiCAD menu. As a long time user, changing this keyboard assignment (to Command B, as I never needed the Repeat Last Command shortcut) has not been easy. Jeffrey: I have found the Pet Palette equally good for stretching, so no keyboard shortcut is needed, but old habits die hard. HTH.

Where do you find it in the list of available commands? Zoom in isn't in my list of available commands in any WE.

I just upgraded from 8.1 and was sent cd's and upgrade codes, but no new manuals.

I sorted the list by name with all available commands. This may go back to what profile you started with. Mine is set with Standard 9 US.
