Slow printing with Plotmaker

I am wondering if anyone else has this problem.
Using AC 8.1 on OS 10.3.2 I find that printing to a laser printer is EXTREMELY slow (sometimes 10 min!!!). The same information printed from ArchiCad prints in a fraction of the time. Are there any tips for increasing performance? Is this some sort of limitation with the new plotmaker? I am on a network using OS X server and the printer is a Canon IR 5000 printer/ copier.

Your post needs some clarification/correction. As I read it you are saying that AC8.1 is printing much slower than ArchiCAD.

Sorry, I meant to say from Plotmaker, which comes with AC 8.1
