Texture changing tone in empty doorway

Anonymous
Not applicable
There's a weird change of tone happening when I put an empty opening (arch) through this wall
Shadows are definitely off, no idea what's happening
Any thoughts?

An adjoining wall (or other element) perhaps?

What happens if you make the opening a little narrower or move it away from the side wall?

Nope. I've moved the entire wall including the empty arch to another location - that weird line still appears

I've isloated the wall & empty opening in question into a blank file - it still occurs

It could be the way the WALLHOLE or WALNICHE has been scripted.
There may be more than one and they may have different materials used in them?

If you change the wall edge to a different material, dos the opening change?
It may depend on how the opening id scripted.
Or can you control the edge material in the object?

Is it a standard opening object or one you have made?

Just the standard Arch Top Door Opening that I've used

There's no control of edge material, either "Same as Wall Edge" or "Same as Wall Side". Neither makes a difference

Interestingly if the width of the empty opening changes, that weird horizontal line changes as well

I am thinking it might be a bug to do with the OpenGL or curve resolution

No it is just the angle of your sun.
I have switched to Axonometric but it is a similar setting in perspective.

Ah interesting

Do you think that is a bug though? I wouldn't expect there to be such a sharp change / division in surface tone when shadows are turned off

Definitely something strange going on.
When I opened your file the shadows were on, but when I turned them off the shadow was still there.

In vectorial engine the shadows on the inside of the opening are different to those in OpenGL.
I would say there is something wrong with the OpenGL textures.
Just what I wouldn't know though.

Even changing the opening shape to different objects changes the side shadow.
