Trouble solving spiral curved vault

Hi, I'm having this problem to model a curved spiral vault, i've been trying to model it whith the mesh tool but still I can't figure out how to do it properly:

Dwight, actually i've already tryed to solve this kind of puzzle (LOL) with that method and the problem here is that each face of the vault has a diferent arc, with the method u suggest of the mesh i've already solved about 75% of the puzzle... because Im still having a lot of problems with the final part of the vault!!! jajajaja. Ok now its like a contest, the one who solves this puzzle of geometry wins... ermm a candy! Look at the image maybe you can suggest a way to end the vault in the correct way. Dwight??

and the floor plan view, the big big problem here is the different position of the squares

I think if you get the schematic layout correct before you start anything else you will get it. Below is how I did it.

Schematic:
Draw up the overall plan view of the main elements, I elected to put the central hole at 45degrees to larger roof. Then draw straight line from A to b', then bend that line in an arc until the arc touches a'.

Polylines:
Use magic wand to make multiple offsets of the larger roof square. Then rotate each one using the center as rotation point, rotate until the corners touch the blue arc (A-b').

Meshes:
Create mesh as usual as if it were a site contour. This will go faster if you select the option "change all" when change the Z heights.
Then copy mesh, change layers, lower mesh2 a little bit, then use SEO to subtract Mesh2 form Mesh1, then hide layer containing mesh2.

Snap
Note: Still not what your prof is building, since he is using fixed size "bricks" his surfaces are warped. Curved in two planes and the degree of warpage increases as you near the top. So this is only an approximation. You could improve my version by increasing the height of the "contours" as you go up to the "chimney".

You obviously have a solid knowledge of AC. However, ? falls short in the helpful explanation category.

He has 4 meshes around the rotated square.

The rotated square in the center is X' high

The 4 meshes around it have the side along the rotated square raised to X; easy to do in the 3D window graphically or in the 2D plan window if you type in the X value.
