I was under the impression that "rebuild all s/e from model" would rebuild the view using that particular view's layer state. I believe I have discovered, to my dismay, that indeed the view gets rebuilt, but with the layer state that is open on the floor plan at the time the command is executed.
I've got a bunch of views that I want to update before I publish and print. How do I do that? It takes a couple of hours to update them all.
The elevations take 10 minutes to update under the command noted above. Is that normal? Hatching (fills) are on.

AC is using the layer combo for the floor plan that is open.

If I update layouts through the drawing manager, will AC update views?

if you want to automatically update your placed sect/elev views on layouts you will need to set them all to autorebuild and use the drawing manager to 'update'. archicad will then open each placed view in turn, rebuild with the correct view settings, and import the data into layout...
if - like me - your autorebuild sect/elevs take too long to rebuild whilst working and you have them set to 'manual rebuild' you will need to either change this setting for the update (remembering of course to switch it back); open each sect/elev

the leftmost contains icons to click on, to open windows for available window modes: floor plans/stories, sections and elevations placed on the floor plan, and cameras placed on the floor plan. These are "generic" in the sense that they accept the current layer set from the last opened window.
The next pane/mode of the Navigator shows Saved and named views. You decide what settings you save with them, for example layer combinations. If you double-click on one of these, it will open with its previously set layer combo, not the one you had in the last opened window.
And the third pane/mode of the Navigator shows Layouts. if you double-click they oppen, but if you just click on them you will see what Saved Views each layout contains, if any.
And if you open the Organizer, you get two open navigator panes at once, and you can drag saved views into the layouts you want.

I ask this because in 9 one could not work with linked views. It's much to slow for a decent job (30,000 sq ft 3 story mixed building with 50 30x42 packed drawigs)

How fast or slow is 10 rebuilding views compared with 9 publishing PMKs.

Yes, it's still buggy. Once in a while when updating from an outside file, the update will crash the session running the outside file. I've never had a problem could not be solved by quitting all sessions of Archicad, reopening the Layout file, and hitting "Update" again.
I just completed a 150,000 SF, 3 story building (50,000 SF / floor) and had very few problems with it.

So AC10 is faster then AC9 publishing PMKs, this is a fact.
In as 9 I am on a network the plp is on the server I work from a plc and publish from it. In AC10 will be the same AC10 PLP will be on a network.
Again, you are stating that network linked views in AC10 are regenerated faster then publishing PMKs over the network from AC9. Is this what you are stating?
