When is V9 Due?

Being new to Archicad - should we expect a v8.5 before
v9. Based on the past upgrades, when should we expect
a new version?

I'd like to see a 8.5 upgrade first (free of course). Make this version totally bug free first.
I'll quite happy to see all these new features asap. Roll on Archicad 9

ArchiCAD 9: inizia il betatesting !!!

Please more details about redering engine maybe an example to
compare to aw_works and what about new opengl performances
It look like the archiradar site has been nobbled by you know who,
shame, as it was an interesting piece of info.

It does however give credence to its authenticity, that GS have asked for it to be pulled.

Let the rumourmongering begin

Rumors also say that construction simulation will have the ability to guide mechanical workers and robotic cranes on site through an DSL connection so that we don't need contractors any more....
I heard there is a problem with the G6 processors installed in the builders heads....
just joking!

PS. Maybe I should post this on the wishlist?

I guess "shame" depends on your personal and business ethics. To me, if someone signs a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement, then violating that agreement and showing no personal integrity is not something to be admired ... nor is the enforcement of an agreement something to be condemned.

Karl ... still wondering about that "hairnet" 😉

"loading of the bookcases"

Looks like they have trimmed the Library down to just one bookcase. GREAT!

Nononono, wireless! 😉 Slight problem in humid and hot climates, but blowing sand helps (trust me!)

My apologies, I never really thought about it like that.
I think I was getting carried away with all the good things promised in Archicad 9.

Very understandable! 😉 And, even though that web page is gone, our moderator has left the "interesting" translations in this thread for us to speculate on. 😉

This is a quick translation of the main features, announced in Italian on
Archiradar, that was surely a translation of something in English... Adding
this long route to the fact that these voices were heard from a closed
room, while passing on a corridor, ... well, we can think that a half can
be true.

- The installer is a Java-base application.
- The key color of this version is yellow+blue
- If no protection key is found, you can quit, or continue in Demo mode
- Text can be fully formatted with character and paragraph attributes, and
can be fully justified.
- Text blocks can have an optional frame and background color. The block
orientation can be locked.
- A covering fill can be associated to slabs, roofs and meshes.
- New rendering engine: LightWorks, with raytracing capability and soft
shadows.
- The Preferences panels now contains only project-specific elements.
Computer-based (or User-preferences) are now in the new Work Environment
command and they can be copied from a computer to another, even
crossplatform (shortcuts, palettes, tools and menu content). Multiple
profiles can be saved, so any user can have his own environment even on the
same computer and on the same project.
- All palettes are stretchy, customizable and dockable.
- New 'magnet' icon, to enable QuickSelect mode of the Arrow Tool. When
active, the user can select any element simply clicking inside of it, just
like we do now in the 3D Window. You will love it with texts!
- Some new command on the pet palettes, and all the buttons are now
visible (non need to swap from edit-element to edit-node/edge commands).
- The Info box, using the arrow tool, shows the number of selected elements.
- All the layers pop-up shows full status icons (locked, wireframe,
visible, intersection-number).

That's not all, but more than enough.
I would have loved to sign a Not Disclosure Agreement, but unfortunately no
one asked for it.
