License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Working Off-line with Teamwork

I often have the need to work off-line with a teamwork project that I have exclusive rights to. I do this by copying the .plc file to a flash drive and putting it on my laptop. Aside from a prompt in the beginning about not being able to find the .plp file, I have no problem working in the draft copy.

The problem comes when I want to re-copy the .plc to the server and update the .plp file. The .plp file overwrites the revisions to the .plc, not the other way around. Fortunately I have a copy of the revised .plc on the flash drive.

What I end up doing is opening the.plc, saving it as a solo .pln and resharing it. This works but seems too involved with reestablishing passwords etc. What am I doing wrong? I have tried both leaving the teamwork file running and also closing and restarting it. Any suggestions?

gbley,
The whole concept of teamwork is that you,
1. Have a PLP file, that is located on a server, although it doesn't have to be
, for the picky people

2. You sign into a PLP file with the respective rights/areas.

3. Save a local copy ,PLC, you can save this to the same folder as the PLP, but I don't really know why you would want to do this, but that's fine, a PLC is , as stated before, a local copy of the PLP.

4. The PLC is just for what you want to do, work off line, but you MUST remaind signed into the PLP if you want to avoid problems, such as the one you are having at the moment. So when you work in your PLC , at home for example, just click by the warning messages that ArchiCAD can't find the PLP, then when you come back to the office with your changes/additions you can simply over write the old PLC and do a send and receive changes.

Did the method work for you Gary?

Hi Ted,
You and I had this conversation several weeks back. The part of the equation I didn't get was not to sign off. I'm sure you mentioned it but I didn't lock on until now. Thanks for checkin'.

I remembered. Something must have been lost in transmission up and down the Willamette Valley that day. Sorry you had to wait so long for the final piece to your puzzle.

Working better now, right?

Ted,
Yes, It works fine now. I'm only sorry I have to work out of the office at all. But since I do, the Teamwork function is a great tool to have. Maybe we can talk at the next user group here in Portland if Mr. Simmons decides to come our way again 😉
