Working with elevation in the InfoBox pallete

Electric Flute

One thing that annoys me constantly is that I can`t just elevate a slab or a column or a beam in the InfoBox. I have to change base value and top value of the tool to elevate it. I always open the Tools Settings to just do a simple elevate??

Why not a CHAIN button do lock the thickness of the element?

Any thoughts?
Thanks

If you set the slab to a composite structure (which has a specified thickness) instead of a generic fill, then the (b) will be grayed out. Any changes to the (t) will result in the entire slab raising or lowering.

Alternatively, CMD+9 (on a mac, not sure what it is on a PC) is elevate. It's just as fast.

as for columns and beams... CMD+9 will become your best friend.

Ricardo,

Good thought. In the meantime you can graphically drag the slab vertically but I can see your point. I will put it to the product management team's attention. Thanks!

I like the fact that there are two (or more) ways of adjusting elevation. If I want to move the whole thing I use the element's settings, (or Elevate tool, as Jared suggested), if I only want to adjust either the top or bottom surface I use the InfoBox. Best of both worlds.

A Chain button would not hurt. It could give you both worlds in both places.

Thanks Nicholas for support.
