Good day,
yet another bug me thinks. i have been trying to edit a railing, but the changes don't stick. quit and restarted, didn't make a difference. i've tried editing it in edit mode from the 3D window, in 2D in edit mode, and in 2D with the railing tool settings dialogue. i make the changes and click OK. but the railing segment remains unchanged. so far the only way to do it is to delete it and build a new one exactly the way i want then place it. very inconvenient and quite the pain in the A. see the video

Thanks Barry for testing.
You are almost confirming that there is a change after you open the file which obviously is not logical because reverting to absolute values means that you cannot change the height of railing without having manually to readjust the oehter elements. If the relative setting was not changed everything would have been perfect.
If you have set your railing to 1m you will see not change. But if you have set it to a different height then the position will change. At least this is what is happening in my case.

I would say there is a bug there.
The relative setting does not stay and reverts to absolute if you close and reopen the file or even if you drag a copy of the railing.
While it is set to relative, you can adjust the segment height and the rails will adjust to suit, staying at their relative height.
But if you close and open the file or drag a copy of the railing, the 'relative' setting will revert to 'absolute', and yes the absolute size will become the % of a 1000mm high railing (66% becomes 660mm and 33% becomes 330mm.
Example - I have a 2000mm high railing segment.
One railing is at 100mm absolute, one at 33% relative and the other at 66% relative.
If I adjust the segment height they all stay as they are 100mm, 33% of segment height and 66% of segment height.
But if I close and reopen or simply drag a copy of the railing, the relative sizes convert to absolute, but also recalculate the height as a % of a 1000mm high segment.
To make it even worse,
I closed and reopened the file and the settings have changed but the 3D of the railing has not.
Please report this to your local support - link to this post for explanation.
I will try to report this directly to GS as well.
Barry.

I am so glad that you confirm this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't need to close the file. If you create a new design option by duplicating the same thing happens.
I can' t test it in 28 because my license is not yet activated but i believe it will not be resolved either......
Maybe the solution to this post should be postponed for a while......

I just noticed this happening in 22... Though it was my 2600 screen becoming 900...

I was actually testing in 28, so no changes there.
The original post was for a slightly different problem.
Notice the segments and nodes have a yellow warning triangle.
That means part of the railing is custom and the original poster is trying to alter the overall settings of the railing.
With those warnings, the overall settings will not apply to the entire railing any more.
They need to select that particular segment or in this case just select the rail and delete it. (not through the oveall settings).

At least the title describes the same behaviour for a diffenent problem.
"I was actually testing in 28, so no changes there".
Do you mean that in 28 everything works as it should?

I mean it is still buggy in 28.
I have reported it to GS directly, but still it is best if you *and others) report it to your local support to put a bit of heat on the topic.

I have reported this to my local reseller already.

Hello there,
Thank you very much for bringing this issue to our attention.
Indeed, it looks to be a defect: the position of the horizontal rails should not change after a copy-paste or save-reopen action. As you correctly highlighted the problem comes from the height input method switching back to Absolute instead of Relative and with that the values get mixed up.
According to this, I registered this faulty behavior into our system so that product managers and developers could see and handle it with proper priority.
Cheers,
Kornél
