Cutting planes are still causing me a bit of trouble.
It seems like I am spending way to much time chasing my tail.
It I manage to get the window setting correct to show up (window a above a cutting plane) then I have the wall setting wrong. When I get the wall and widow settings the walls wont clean up because of the settings I used to see the window above the cutting plane.
What is the recommended setting for walls and windows using a cutting plane of 42"? I have always used 42" as my imaginary cutting plane in working drawings. Anything above that in a floor plan is shown with long dash. Anything below that, but under a counter top or what ever is shown with short dash. For example, closet rod & shelf, cabinets, soffits, etc...are long dash. The outline of my base cabinets is small dashed. The counter tops are solid line.
The is an office standard that I am not interested in changing.
I would like to see ArchiCAD able to work better with this very common standard for imaginary cut plane with out being so confusing.
I like the ability to deviate very much, however, it seems a bit to complicated.
My solution would be to have the vertical cut plan fully adjustable in a window similar to what we have for the 3D cutting planes.
Perhaps I just need to find a combination of settings for my walls and windows that works for what I need most often and be able to remember how it was that I got those settings how I need them.
Just my opinion, but I think the cutting plane thing is a bit to complicated as it is now. I love the idea of it, I just am having a hard time with it.
Perhaps it will be a little different in version 11.
