YES....that's how I was taught traditionally as well. Though...the folks down under have a good point though in reversing the graphics.
Reminds me of a story once.
Worked for an architect in San Diego.
He SWORE up and down that his whole life he indicated door tags as "hexagons" and window tags as "circles". I tried to explain it to him that he has drawn them this way his WHOLE (55+ years) life and that he never has seen them with doors as cirlces and window tags as hex's.
He said that when I switched the shape of the tag on him...it 'threw him off" and that he wanted to see doors as "hex tags" and windows as "circle tags".......we argued for a while, back and forth until I had to bring out the heavy artillery...."
The Architectural Graphics Standards"...i.e. the bible of the how you graphically represent something in architecture.....and low and behold...I was right. Circles for for door tags, hex's for window tags.
When I pointed this out to him, he looked at, made a noise....something like...."
huh...how bout that"......and he proceeded to state to me..."
Remember Golden rule Rob, 'He who has the Gold Rules'......needless to say, for all that particular architects work, the door and window tags symbols was....well, completely the opposite, BASS-ACKWARDS if you will of what the entire U.S. standards were....
Lesson learned: if the man who's paying says....I want my door tag symbols to look like fish shapes......then by gosh darn it...fish shapes is what YE shall have.
