grid lines show up in 3d view. How can I get others to show

Grid lines show up in the 3d view on the "grid plane" below the model. How can I get other objects to show up on that plane? For example I turned some text into an object then placed it so it would show up on every floor plan. How can I get this "text object" show up in 3d next to the grid lines on the "grid plane?"

You will need to use the 3D Text Object instead of regular text. For other lines use the Morph tool to draw them.

In your 3D view you can only see 3D objects.
If you want to create text in your 3D view you'll have to use 3D text.
