Can you give a more detailed description of what you are trying to achieve?
AMD Ryzen9 5900X CPU, 64 GB RAM 3600 MHz, Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB, 500 GB NVMe SSD
2x28" (2560x1440), Windows 10 PRO ENG, Ac20-Ac28

when selecting a line I get a node point that stretches the line at that point.
It seems that simply moving the line should be the default option. No additional nodes.

If you click and drag a node, the pet palette should appear.
Possible it will default to the stretch node option first.
But if you change it to the drag option, it should remember this the next time you click and drag the node.
The pet palettes should remember the last mode you selected and should use that gain next time you invoke it.
Another thing you can do is select the line (or other element) and then press CTRL+D for Drag.
Then click the exact point on the line you want to drag from and then click where you want that point to go.
Pressing CTRL+D will by-pass the pet palette altogether and just move your line.
Barry.
